the begninning
The Battle for Sky Fortress takes place on Sky Fortress One, the first of the massive constructions iniitally created for the Military. Floating high above the seemingly endless city, you can still see the lights below.
It was built during the war as a battle arena for training exercises and testing new technologies, but also as a symbol of hope for the people below. With these battles being televised it quickly became a place for entertainment, a new sport for spectators to place bets on.
When the military funding cuts came in, the fortress was sold to a private investor who, wanting to keep the sport alive, began using prisoners and deserters - turning what was once a symbol into a very controversial floating colosseum in the sky.
As controversial as it was, even the military benefitted with the new technology developed to keep the sport entertaining. One of the earliest technologies, the cloning and reconstruction technology (created to reduce fatality rates so the sport remained 'alive'), is even used to keep high ranking officals alive even after assasinations.
This technology bought new strategies into the game, all of a sudden you could have endless waves of battles, death was no longer permanent.
Eventually battle hardened warriors joined in the battles, and it became a place for heroes instead of prisoners. A place for Champions....
the anti-heroes
Over the years the sport became less popular and Sky Fortress One was sold off again to an as yet unkown identity. This resulted in the introduction of the Titan concept, behemoths that could take out heroes and commanders with little effort, and wipe out entire waves of enemies.
With this new level of excitement, new challengers, and massive destruction, the sport became more popular than ever before. Even now the battles still rage, and new technology is constantly added to the arena to keep the excitement high, and the money rolling in.
plotting and scheming
Some people are still against the sport, about the whole idea of having the floating fortress above the cities and the contoverstial cloning tech.
While most are only vocal about the issues, there are groups that would go to greater lengths. There has also been rumors of late, evolving around a group of extremist Zerg sympathisers, and their high level of activity in the surrounding cities......
The future is yet to be written.
